I am pleased to announce that our Houston-based personal injury law firm has filed another product liability lawsuit against Toyota Motor Company, arising out of the sudden and unintended acceleration problems in Toyota vehicles. Our client is a special education teacher from Oklahoma, who suffered serious injuries when her 2006 Toyota Prius accelerated to high speeds, ran off a curving road, and crashed into an electrical box. The accident occurred in Briggs in Oklahoma.
After the crash, our client received a recall notice from Toyota informing her that her Prius was among millions of cars being recalled for sudden and unintended acceleration problems.
The case has been filed in the 151st Judicial District Court in Harris County, Texas. The claim names Gulf States Toyota, Toyota Motor Sales USA, Toyota Motor Corp., Toyota Motor North America Inc., Toyota Technical Center USA, Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America Inc., Toyota Technical Center Japan, CTS Corporation, Denso International America, James Hodge, d/b/a Toyota of Muskogee, Aisan Industry Co. Ltd.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that as many as 89 deaths could be linked to the unintended acceleration problem in Toyota vehicles. In March this year, our Houston Toyota Recall law firm filed another product liability lawsuit on behalf of four businessmen, who were injured when their loaner Toyota accelerated to high speeds, and crashed in California.
