The body of a worker, who had been missing since a natural gas plant explosion in Chambers County, has now been found. The remains of contract worker, Richard Shaw was found on Wednesday at about 6.30 pm.
The explosion was triggered on Tuesday afternoon at the Enterprise Products plant outside Houston, Texas. The explosion , which was triggered at one of Enterprise Product facility’s natural gas storage facilities, generated a massive fireball that continued to burn for several hours, until relief crews managed to put the flames out. Enterprise Products is located in Mont Belvieu, 35 miles east of Houston.
Shaw was apparently an employee of Turner Industries, and was a maintenance contract worker. Investigations into the accident have begun, and will be expected to continue for several months. However, according to a Chambers county emergency management coordinator, company officials told him that the explosion was likely caused by a failed pump in a rack area.
Shaw’s family has been disappointed with the support they have received from Turner Industries which employed him, as well as Enterprise Products. They received little information about his whereabouts after the explosion.
