The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of children’s robes, because these don’t meet federal inflammability standards, and are susceptible to fires.
The recall involves more than 1,000 fleece robes for children that were imported by Hanna Andersson of Oregon. The robes were manufactured in China. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, these robes do not meet inflammability standards, and pose a possible burning hazard to a child.
So far, there have been no injuries reported from the use of these robes, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission believes that the risk is strong enough to recall the robes. Children could be burnt seriously if the robes burst into flames while they are wearing them.
The robes are made of polyester fleece, and come in white with large multi-colored dots. They were sold at Hanna Andersson stores and were also available on the Hanna Andersson website, and through catalogs. They were sold between September and November 2011. They have the words Style 38310 Hanna Andersson on the tags.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning parents to stop using these robes immediately. Parents are also advised to take the robes back to the retailer where the robes were purchased for an exchange, refund or store credit.
