Victims of BP Texas City Refinery Explosion Call for Revocation of Plea Deal

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Since the Deepwater Horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico in April, no one seems to be willing to give BP any more chances. The 11 people workers who died in the rig explosion in April were the latest in a series of fatalities involving people who worked in some capacity for the company. In 2005, 15 workers at the company's Texas City plant were killed, when a massive blast tore through the plant. Scores more were injured. Those injured victims, who had been left with severe and debilitating injuries as a result of the blast, are now...

Judge Rules Mood against Big Oil Not Sufficient to Stall Trial

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

It’s not just BP that’s feeling the rumblings from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  Other players in the oil and gas industry are also feeling the heat as the public mood continues to rage against Big Oil and its greed.  Lawyers for Valero Energy Corp. found this out the hard way, when they asked a federal judge to delay a trial because the mood is so overwhelmingly against oil companies right now. BP Settlement Helps Prevent Future Industrial Accidents

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

It’s hard for any Houston injury lawyer to look for a silver lining in the deadly refinery explosion that occurred exactly five years ago at BP’s Texas City refinery. For the families of those who died, there may be some comfort to be found in the fact that some of the settlement money that BP paid out has since been utilized to enhance safety training programs, enhance injury treatment, and in other community development efforts. Last week marked the fifth anniversary of the devastating explosion that killed 15 oil refinery workers and injured more than 180 others. Since the disaster,...
