Two children were seriously injured when the minivan they were traveling in, flipped over, causing them to be ejected from the window. The 2 children, a 10-year-old girl, and a 9-year-old boy, had to be airlifted to a Houston hospital.

Toyota's endless list of safety problems continues. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently announced that it will begin an investigation into reports of door fires on several Toyota vehicles.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating approximately 830,000 Toyota vehicles. There is a special focus on investigating Camry vehicles as well as Toyota RAV4s from model year 2007. BMW Fined $3 Million for Not Reporting Safety Defects Immediately

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has fined automaker BMW $3 million for failure to report defects immediately, and failure to provide adequate information about safety defects.
According to the federal agency, it evaluated a total of 16 BMW recalls, including those for motorcycles as well as automobiles, since 2010 and found a number of instances where BMW did not report safety defects to the agency in time. Under federal law, automakers who discover defects in their vehicles must report these to the federal agency immediately, or within 5 business days of discovering the defect.

Online Prescription Drug Websites Have Poor Safety Information

According to a study that has just been published in the Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety Journal, most websites that hawk prescription medications fail to provide adequate safety information for consumers. The researchers found that in at least 92% of the cases, the general contraindications were missing, and there was no information about contraindicated medicines in about 47% of the cases. Additionally, only 7% of the websites actually listed the side effects of the drug.

There are a number of factors that are associated with spinal cord injury. For instance, workers in Baytown, who place heavy strain on their back because of excessive weightlifting and carrying activities, could be at a higher risk of spinal cord damage. Hewlett-Packard, in association with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has announced a recall of fax machines because of a possible burn injury hazard. The Hewlett-Packard fax machines included in the recall include model numbers 1040 and 1050. According to the company, it has received reports of several fires involving these fax machines.
A total of 1 million fax machines are being recalled. Out of these, about 980,000 machines have been recalled from the United States, while the remaining have been recalled from Canada.
